Navigation Homes Stadium was proud to host the return of Super Rugby to Pukekohe on Friday night, welcoming 7,200 fans through the gates for an unforgettable clash between Moana Pasifika and the Chiefs.
It marked the first Super Rugby fixture at our stadium since 2013, and the energy was felt from the opening whistle. The stands were packed, the embankments were full, and the atmosphere was electric – a true celebration of top-level rugby right here in the heart of South Auckland. While the Chiefs came out firing early to secure a 50–35 win, Moana Pasifika showed real fight and flair, giving the crowd plenty to cheer about in the second half. It was a privilege to provide the platform for such a thrilling contest and to see the community rally behind both teams.
From passionate fans waving flags and ringing cowbells to local families enjoying the entertainment and food options, the entire stadium experience was something special. Post-match, Moana Pasifika fullback William Havili referred to South Auckland as the team’s “second home” – and on Friday night, it truly felt like it.
We also want to acknowledge the outstanding performances on the night – from debutant Tuna Tuitama’s try-scoring moment to a late intercept try by Havili that kept the energy high in the final minutes. This is what live rugby is all about.
The team at Navigation Homes Stadium would like to thank everyone who made the event possible – from our stadium crew and partners to the supporters who filled the venue with passion and pride.
We’re excited to welcome Moana Pasifika back to Pukekohe on Friday, 19 April, for another epic Super Rugby match – this time against the Brumbies. If you enjoyed the buzz of Friday night, don’t miss the next one! Learn More
